We are looking for an enthusiastic sustainability student to join us in Melbourne for our judging process and lead up to our 2017 Banksia Sustainability Awards.
This role would ideally suit someone who has excellent writing and communication skills. Also, someone who is looking for an interesting project to extend their knowledge in sustainability and be at the forefront to learning about the projects that are pushing the boundaries for Australia in Sustainability.
Working collaboratively with a small team you will be responsible for gathering and compiling information from judges in both verbal meetings and online judging response to create meaningful feedback for entrants of the 2017 Awards (please note there are an average of 150 submissions).

Scribing judges’ comments during live meetings, taking key notes of comments made about each individual submission
Gathering judges’ comments from an online portal and compiling these comments for each submission entered
Using both comments made from meetings and posted on an online portal to fill in a template for each entrant to receive (feedback from judges).
This is not about copying and pasting what has been said it is about going through both sources of comments to highlight strengths, weaknesses and areas for improvement for each entrant.
Skills and abilities needed:
A strong understanding in sustainability, the terminology used in the field and issues and conversations that may arise in the area.
Clear and concise understanding of English to be able to both understand and interpret judges’ comments.
Fast typer (70-80 wpm)
Intermediate computer skills and the ability to learn new programs
Intermediate excel skills
Degree, background or volunteer work in sustainability is mandatory
Currently studying a degree in sustainability
Working with not for profits is highly looked upon
- You will oversee coordinating the documents and templates to create a sophisticated piece for entrants to be sent after they have submitted their entries.
Type of employment:
Judging period & process takes place over 8 weeks (July 24th – September 15th)
We are looking for a number of students to delegate these tasks to, due to the length of the process.
Each student will be required to complete a minimum of 16 hours of work per week during this period
