What will you do?
In this position you will join our Mackay Environment and Planning team, where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of projects.
The role includes desktop and field-based environmental assessments, which requires sound skills in the identification of ecological communities, flora, fauna and their habitat requirements. Input to a broad range of regulatory approvals is required, so a clear understanding of the local, state and federal environmental regulatory framework is essential. Experience in any of the following disciplines will be well regarded;
Flora and fauna ecology (terrestrial, aquatic and marine), vegetation planning and management (particularly the preparation of PMAVs), land rehabilitation, contamination assessment, bushfire management, environmental offset planning, fauna spotter/catching and environmental monitoring (particularly surface and groundwater).
You will work with our friendly and highly experienced team delivering unique and exciting environmental and ecological outcomes throughout Australia.
We know the work we do is vital in assisting our world’s economic development and, it’s the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. Here are the key things you will need to have in order to ‘bring ideas to life’.
- A Bachelor Degree in ecology or related environmental science discipline.
- A substantial proportion of experience in a private consultancy setting.
- Project management
- Exemplary flora and fauna identification skills.
- A high level of ‘field fitness’, that is, the ability to undertake extended field work throughout Australia, in varying and sometimes challenging environments, and often in remote locations.
- Willingness to travel for up to two weeks at a time.
- Excellent time management skills, and the initiative to regularly connect with project teams to ensure work is on time, budget and scope.
- Flexibility to work either autonomously or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to author professional reports to a high scientific standard.
- Real world experience of the activities that occur on industrial, construction, mining and urban development sites.
Based in Mackay, this role offers diverse, interesting and challenging work with the opportunity to make your mark in a consulting environment. The successful candidate must be available for periodic (sometimes frequent) fieldwork assignments to potentially remote areas, for durations of up to two weeks.
