Environmental Engineer

Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.

Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the role of Environmental Engineer.

Reporting to the Manager Environment & Sustainability, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering of Environmental Levy funded WSUD capital works projects on time and to budget.
  • Developing an annual works programs that coordinates with other disciplines, department and programs of Council
  • Monitoring, tracking and reporting on WSUD project outcomes to the community and Council
  • Managing the monitoring and reporting program for Council's stormwater harvesting/water reuse and treatment systems
  • Providing technical information and guidance to Council, staff and the community on the key aspects of Council's WSUD projects and Water Sensitive City program
  • Ensuring work activities comply with all legislative requirements

Required Qualifications/Certificates

  • Tertiary qualifications in civil or environmental engineering
  • Minimum 3 years design and project management experience
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence

Required experience/skills:

  • Demonstrated environmental engineering design and documentation experience
  • Demonstrated project management, estimating and construction supervision/administration experience
  • Working knowledge of relevant government environmental and planning legislation and Australian standards and guidelines
  • Experience with grant writing and related administration
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated research, writing and presentation skills for a broad audience
  • Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Competent in the use of MS Office programs, GIS, MUSIC and AutoCAD

This position is 35 hours per week with access to flexitime.
