About Earth Systems

Earth Systems is a Melbourne-based company with 25 years of experience in environmental engineering and clean-tech innovation. Earth Systems has recently been involved in commercial biochar production with our own pyrolysis technology.

As a member of the Carbon and Energy Team at Earth Systems, you will be involved in the daily operation, maintenance, wood loading and site coordination of the CharMaker biochar machine.

Principal Duties

  • Operate the CharMaker pyrolysis unit including wood loading (with wheel loader) of parks and gardens greenwaste
  • Maintain equipment onsite for functional and safe operation
  • Assist in setting and achieving production targets
  • Liaise with client and other contractors as required
  • Carry out quality control & process improvements where possible – ideas welcome!
  • Provide feedback on plant, systems and logistics
  • Report on processing. Complete basic site paper work/permits as required
  • Potential involvement in national or overseas projects as needed for CharMaker production site installations
  • Sales & Product Delivery assistance

What you bring

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Physically fit and hands on
  • A natural problem solver with a drive to learn and know more
  • Able to work alone or independently
  • Willing to demonstrate experience in hands-on physical or technical work
  • Conscious of safety, quality and neat site operations
  • Able to complete basic reports and paperwork
  • Have their own licence and vehicle to go to and from work
  • May have a background in trades and/or engineering and can demonstrate practical hands-on/engineering skills
  • Welding/fitter type skills/trades will be well regarded but are not essential
  • Mobile plant and/or construction tickets will be well regarded but are not essential
  • Truck licences (MR or higher) would be well regarded but are not essential.

What we offer

  • Permanent full-time, part-time or casual positions are available.
  • $23.75 - $36.55 per hour dependent on skills and experience.
  • Support to achieve licences or tickets for operation of plant equipment including front-end loader and welding equipment.
