About the Position
The Civil & Natural Resource Management Crew Member contributes to the delivery of natural resource management, land management, and environmental projects across Gunaikurnai Country through GLaWAC's Business Enterprise. Working under the direction of the NRM Co-Ordinator/Civil Co-Ordinator, the position is primarily responsible for undertaking on-ground Natural Resource Management activities that improve environmental, recreational and cultural outcomes across public land and jointly managed parks. As part of Business Enterprise, the role also provides support to civil construction, landscaping and infrastructure projects as required, contributing to the delivery of fee-for-service contracts for Parks Victoria, government agencies and other clients. The position plays an important role in protecting and enhancing Country while supporting the sustainable management of natural and cultural values.
Essential Skills / Experience
- Demonstrated experience in Natural Resource Management or land management.
- Current Victorian Manual Driver Licence.
- White Card.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Chainsaw competency (desirable).
- Ability to work away from home when required.
- Commitment to mandatory training.
- Working With Children Check and/or Police Check.
- Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- ACUP Chemical Users Accreditation.
- Experience in landscaping or civil construction.
- Experience operating plant and equipment.
- Traffic Management.
- Excavator or Skid Steer competency.
- Firefighting accreditation.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal cultural heritage and land management practices.
