Digital Water Meter Project Support Officer (Temporary Position – up to 3 years)

Tamworth Regional Council is embarking on an exciting initiative to transition its 22,000 water customers from manual water meter technology to automatic digital water meter technology.

Tamworth Regional Council is committed to the sustainable development of the Region and our Water and Waste Directorate has a major role to play in this initiative. In line with building a sustainable region and meeting our regulatory compliance obligations, we are currently seeking the services of a highly motivated individual who can demonstrate relevant experience in project management and/or digital water metering technologies.

Working within Council Water Distribution Engineering Team and working closely with internal and external stakeholders and customers, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordination of Tamworth Regional Council’s transition to digital automated water meter reading.
  • Assist with project managing all aspects of Council’s digital water meter implementation to its 22,000 customers across six (6) water supplies. Key job tasks include;
  • Ensure contractor completion of timely and accurate concept and detailed designs for the digital water meter system (for all of the Council’s water networks).
  •  Ensure the engaged contractor establishes a reliable communication process/network to facilitate accurate and reliable meter data capture for all water networks.
  •  Ensure the engaged contractor completes the installation of water meters to the required quality, safety and environmental requirements.
  •  Ensure data management services perform to required contractual standards and interface with Council’s existing business and billing system (TechnologyOne).
  • Engage with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure a high-quality customer experience with Council’s transition to digital water metering operations

The successful appointee will bring to the position the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in project management
  • Outstanding project management skills coupled with highly developed communication and negotiation skills
  • A current driver’s licence

A salary of up to $86,356 (exclusive of 10% superannuation) will be negotiated for this position.
