About the role

The Environment Officer – Bushfire Management plans and delivers bushfire management on over 3000 hectares of Council bushland reserves and is a key position within the Environment and Sustainability branch. As the successful candidate you will have demonstrated experience in developing plans, schedules and the implementation of bushfire hazard reduction, bushfire asset management and associated community education programs.

Salary for this position is based on skills, experience and qualifications and will range from $67,642pa to $78,465pa + super.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced Environment Officer, specialising in Bushfire Management, to join our team so if you thrive in a workplace that values innovation and variety don’t miss this opportunity. In addition to holding the relevant tertiary qualifications and being a team player, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in creating and maintain strong working relationships with the community and other agencies responsible for bushfire management.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing grant applications and completing all the necessary reporting documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract and project management, including procurement.
  • Well-developed computer skills including demonstrated experience in word processing, Microsoft Office suite and related Council business software packages, as well as interagency bushfire related databases / tools (eg. BRIMS)
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in the practical application of GIS software (ArcGIS preferred)
