Ravenswood Gold Pty Ltd is the new owner and operator of Ravenswood Gold Mine, located approximately 130kms south of Townsville. The mine is a proven producing asset and is transitioning from underground mining to a large scale, low cost open pit mining operation. 

The Townsville Region in North Queensland, Australia, offers diverse experiences from the awe-inspiring Great Barrier Reef, World Heritage Wet Tropics and the enchanting outback towns of Charters Towers and Ravenswood. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Environmental Advisor - Monitoring to join our Environment team and report directly to the Environment and Community Superintendent. Your role will be to coordinate all environmental aspects relating to environmental monitoring and mine water management programs at Ravenswood Gold. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Ensuring compliance with all monitoring obligations in the site Environmental Authority (EA), related management plans, programs, and operational requirements; coordinate mine water management activities, programs, development, and monitoring.

  • Maintain and review environmental monitoring programs covering air quality, noise, blasting, surface water, groundwater, potable water, sewage, REMP, Brine waste, seepage and sub-terranean fauna.
  • Coordinate maintenance calibration of environmental monitoring equipment to ensure it is maintained and operating in an efficient manner.
  • Ensure the timeous download and storage of noise, dust, weather, and blast data so that current records are always available.
  • Review data for trends, anomalies or unexpected changes and report findings or concerns.
  • Maintain and review mine water management programs covering site water management plan, contaminant release management plan, wet season preparedness, site water balance, Burdekin River water extraction, seepage management, UWIR, Dam Safety and Regulated Structures.
  • Ensure all related company policies, and procedures are always compliant.
  • MUST live within the Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers region, or surrounding areas (within 200km of Ravenswood) or be willing to relocate to the area.

ABOUT YOU 

  • An absolute commitment to working safely, complying with all site safety standards and ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace is essential.
  • Working knowledge of water chemistry, hydrological and hydrogeological systems
  • Working knowledge of GIS (Mapinfo)
  • Previous experience in environmental monitoring
  • Be a team player and work well in a team environment.  
  • Strong communication skills, problem solving skills and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science / Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a mine environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant QLD environmental statutory obligations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Environment databases.
