Environmental Manager

About the Centre

The State Office is home to YMCA Victoria support functions being Payroll, Business Systems, Finance, Marketing and Engagement and the People & Culture Team.

The office is situated in the vibrant Box Hill area, which is host to many amenities; food, transport (Train & Buses) and parks.

Key Elements of the Role

The role of the Environmental Manager promises plenty of variety and opportunity to make a positive impact in the business. You will liaise with internal stakeholders, government bodies and professional organisations on environmental matters. You will provide environmental guidance, diligence and consistency to the organisation and influence a positive environmental culture across the YMCA. You will be working within a fast-paced, people focussed organisation with a strong team culture as part of the Risk, Safety Environment and Quality team. At the YMCA, wellbeing is at our core. Selection Criteria

  • Direct experience in an environmental role within a relevant industry
  • Strong operational and industry knowledge
  • High level of technical expertise in Environmental management
  • Experience in development and implementation of and environmental management system
  • Sound knowledge, understanding and ability to interpret a range of legislative frameworks across multiple jurisdictions
  • Strong communication skills with experience in writing for a range of audiences, preparation of clear and concise written reports verbal communication and an ability to present to diverse audiences


  • Tertiary qualification is sustainability and / or environmental management,
  • Demonstrated practical experience in resource and waste management, energy efficiency, water quality, water conservation or sustainable procurement will also be considered
  • Strong operational and industry knowledge
