Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.
Job Description
As one of our Environmental Officers you will supports all aspects of the environment function for the underground operation. Through providing timely guidance and service to operational personnel to ensure delivery of the mine's performance targets and compliance to corporate and legislative requirements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Focused on monitoring, analysis and reporting on programs for land, vegetation, cultural heritage, water and waste.
- Management plans and systems to improve environmental performance
- The development and implementation of procedures
- Environmental contractor management
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in an environmental discipline are required with knowledge of environmental issues relevant to the coal mining industry highly regarded. Experience with contractor management will be beneficial to your application, but not mandatory. Skill in understanding, interpreting and analysing relevant environmental data is key to the role. Familiarity with Risk Management Processes and Controls and Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems will also be an advantage.

This role will be on a Monday to Friday Roster based in Moranbah at our Grosvenor Mine.
