Graduate Environmental Officer


Saracen Mineral Holdings (ASX: SAR) is an ASX listed gold producer with its core assets located in world-class gold provinces in Western Australia. We are currently seeking a Graduate Environmental Officer for our Carosue Dam Operations situated 120kms northeast of Kalgoorlie, WA. Carosue Dam currently has three underground mines in production.  A considerable investment by the company into exploration and resource development within the current operating mines, as well as regionally, make Carosue Dam an exciting and expanding project to be a part of.

Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, your main responsibilities and key tasks will require you to:

  • Promote environmental awareness.
  • Provide environmental presence on site.
  • Provide guidance and advice on environmental issues.
  • Environmental incident reporting and management.
  • Peer review of environmental documents.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory environmental requirements.
  • Promote Innovation and improvement.
  • Organise and supervise consultants and contractors.
  • Deliver environmental inductions and other training.
  • Conduct in field surveys (flora/fauna/heritage, etc.).
  • Attendance as directed to site meetings.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits.
  • Groundwater monitoring and TSF monitoring.
  • Potable water monitoring and reporting.
  • Maintain site monitoring databases (groundwater, clearing, etc.).
  • Site statutory reporting as required.
  • Purchasing and management of site inventories.
  • Environmental performance reporting.
  • Prepare information for compliance reporting.
  • Report non-compliances and other environmental issues.
  • Manage on-site waste disposal and recycling.
  • Implement actions to address environmental issues.
  • Planning and implementation of rehabilitation programs.
  • Compilation of approvals documentation as required.
  • Organise and supervise consultants and contractors.

Skills and experience:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification (preferably in Environmental Science, Environmental Biology, Microbiology, Hydrogeology or Chemistry)
  • Current WA Manual Drivers Licence is essential (4WD experience advantageous)
  • Genuine love of the Australian Environment and able to work safely in a harsh environment
