About Greater Sydney Landcare

Greater Sydney Landcare (GSL) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to connecting the people of Sydney with nature while supporting ecological conservation across the region. GSL provides land management services and hosts a comprehensive events program with volunteers, councils, government agencies, and corporate partners to restore and protect bushland and habitats.

GSL has recently established two new programs, Corporate Engagements and Environmental Services, to support its transition to a more sustainable, self-funded operating model. As part of this strategic shift, GSL is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Landcare Coordinator (Indigenous Identified) to help grow these initiatives and build partnerships that promote First Nations cultural knowledge while delivering positive environmental outcomes.

About the role

This is an Indigenous Identified position that is responsible for designing and delivering cultural information sessions to GSL staff, volunteers, and community groups, to increase awareness and understanding of First Nations cultural practices.

You will play a key role in identifying new activities that strengthen GSL’s capacity to engage positively and respectfully with Aboriginal communities.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine purpose-driven cultural engagement with environmental conservation to deliver measurable impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Work alongside GSL staff to deliver on-ground programs across Corporate Engagements and Environmental Services.
  • Design and deliver culturally informed information sessions that raise awareness among diverse audiences, including GSL staff, volunteers, corporate partners, and community groups.
  • Support the coordination of events by managing logistics, procuring equipment, maintaining accurate records and reports, and undertaking general administrative tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing programs through the inclusion of Aboriginal cultural knowledge and perspectives.
  • Share cultural knowledge and lived experiences, where appropriate, during GSL events to promote cultural awareness and respectful engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local First Nations groups, Elders, community members, and organisations to support the effective delivery of Landcare programs.

About you

The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside a passion for environmental outcomes.

You will have:

  • Ability to promote cultural awareness and recognition across a wide range of activities, stakeholders, and community groups.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively share knowledge and engage diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated networking skills, with the ability to build and sustain engagement between Landcare groups, volunteers, and First Nations communities.
  • A genuine interest in environmental conservation and community engagement.
  • Current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn and use record-keeping systems such as QuickBooks and Salesforce.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, as required.

Why Join Greater Sydney Landcare?

  • Contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes across Greater Sydney
  • Be part of a growing organisation expanding its services and partnerships
