About Greater Sydney Landcare

Greater Sydney Landcare (GSL) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to connecting the people of Sydney with nature while supporting ecological conservation across the region. GSL provides land management services and hosts a comprehensive events program with volunteers, councils, government agencies, and corporate partners to restore and protect bushland and habitats.

GSL has recently established two new programs, Corporate Engagements and Environmental Services, to support its transition to a more sustainable, self-funded operating model. As part of this strategic shift, GSL is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Local Landcare Coordinator – Volunteer Support to manage and coordinate volunteers who contribute their time and skills to support the successful delivery of GSL programs and events.

About the role

This role is the central liaison for volunteers, providing timely information and guidance to encourage participation in GSL activities, particularly among young adults.

You will play a key role in managing volunteer engagement and implement new processes to strengthen GSL’s capacity to connect positively with a growing volunteer base.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the central liaison for volunteers, providing timely information and guidance to encourage participation in GSL activities, particularly among young adults.
  • Work alongside GSL staff to deliver on-ground programs across Corporate Engagements and Environmental Services.
  • Manage membership and volunteer engagement, including maintaining accurate databases, overseeing membership renewals and fees, supporting onboarding of new members and volunteers, and maintaining ongoing communication through channels such as social media and the GSL Newsletter.
  • Provide administrative support to GSL programs, including maintaining records, updating documents and policies, and accurately recording project information such as site details, volunteer participation, and partnerships.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on activities and outcomes, including contributing to regional reporting requirements.
  • Support program development and collaboration by assisting with grant submissions, contributing to project design and methodology.

About you

The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside a passion for environmental outcomes.

You will have:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, with experience in project planning, coordination, record-keeping, reporting, and grant writing.
  • Proficiency in digital communication and social media, with the ability to develop and implement content across multiple platforms.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use record-keeping applications such as QuickBooks and Salesforce.
  • A genuine interest in environmental conservation and community engagement.
  • Current Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle, with flexibility to work varied hours as required.

This role is hybrid with some office days. Currently located in Castle Hill, with relocation to a new office scheduled for late May 2026.
