The Principal Land Flows Management Officer will provide leadership and scientific expertise to manage and regulate water in the drainage network. With expertise in environmental water, vegetation and wetland management you will determine and implement the operating regimes of drainage infrastructure and report on the environmental and hydrological monitoring objectives of the Board.  You will lead a small team of technical officers and:

  • Undertake project and systems planning, design and project and systems planning, design and implementation to manage and monitor wetland and wetland environments
  • Perform environmental assessments and make decisions on private works and occupational applications; and
  • Ensure the application of the Board policies is appropriately considered in the operations of the drainage network.
  • You will bring your extensive experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of ecological, hydrological or natural resource management plans and programs.
  • Your program management skills and experience combined with your contemporary expertise in wetland, environmental water requirements and vegetation management will be vital to succeeding in this role.

 Special Conditions:

  • The role is based at Millicent.
  • May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
  • A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to drive a 4wd are essential.
  • Inter and intrastate and remote area travel are required, including overnight absences, travel in light aircraft and working outside normal hours of work.

Essential qualifications: A degree in ecology, natural resource management or environmental science or similar is essential. 

Remuneration: PO3: $96,860 min - $102,400 max per annum.
