AMBS Ecology & Heritage is seeking an experienced ecologist to join our team. Specifically, we are looking for someone with advanced skills in plant identification, PCT identification and/or vegetation mapping. It is a role that would suit someone with an interest in working on biodiversity stewardship assessments and biodiversity monitoring projects.

Our company commenced trading in 2016 with a team of three ecologists, two heritage experts and two casual staff, based in a two-room office in Annandale. Our work and our team have expanded since then and we currently employ 25 staff and several casual field ecologists. The two-room office is now a two-storey unit in Camperdown. A number of staff reside in regional NSW and work predominantly outside of the main office.

Our ecological work includes flora surveys, fauna surveys, vegetation mapping, biodiversity and habitat monitoring, nest box programs, threatened species monitoring and management, preparation of flora and fauna management plans, BDARs and BSSARs. Our projects extend across NSW in a range of landscapes. We service a range of industries including construction and infrastructure development, mining, State and local government and environmental agencies. Much of our work involves projects undertaken in offset areas.

We are looking for an individual with well-developed skills in:

  • plant identification;
  • plant community identification;
  • plant community mapping;
  • report writing.

The ideal candidate would also have the ability to manage projects and co-ordinate teams. The role requires the capacity to deal with a diverse range of clients, colleagues and regulatory authorities with professionalism and integrity. A current driver’s licence is essential.

To apply for this role, email a full CV to [email protected]. Enquiries about the position can be made to the same address.

Applications close: 20 May 2022.
